In this paper, we illustrate the fundamentals of TxFFE and the subtleties of using TxFFE in an equalization scheme that includes both linear and nonlinear equalization at the receiver. We’ll show how to optimize the equalization scheme as a whole and how link training adapts the equalization parameters to achieve working, compliant con-figurations at the highest available data rates.
